Although the accepted roles for women in the Baroque era were predictably limited and largely excluded the arts, recent scholarship has put a new focus on women composers who broke through these social limitations to create music that was beautiful, refined, and deserves a place in the repertoire. House of Time explores the work of these pioneers from the early to the high Baroque in pieces by Francesca Caccini, Isabella Leonarda, Anna Bon, and Antonia Bembo.

The splendor of the French court was on full display in the lavish musical entertainments that graced the opera and ballet stage, but some of the most beautiful and affecting works of the time were reserved for the evening concerts in the king’s apartments. House of Time brings you a special selection of works by royal favorites Marin Marais, François Couperin, and Elisabeth Jacquet de la Guerre in a musical evening fit for a king.
