Arrangements of orchestral works can be traced back to J.S. Bach, who famously engaged with the popular new Italian concerto for orchestra and soloist through his reworking of pieces by Vivaldi and Marcello for solo keyboard. Across centuries, this practice continued as audiences wished to bring the latest works from the stage home. Some of the most virtuosic works for solo harpsichord and piano came from composers like d’Angelbert, J. S. Bach, Liszt, and others putting voices and violins on the keyboard. Exploring a similar approach to arrangement, Koester & Figg expand the possibilities of the concerto arrangement with six Brandenburgs, four hands, and one harpsichord.
