House of Time presents A Tale of Two Centuries: Purcell, DeVisée, Forqueray, Klein
Time & Location
About the Event
As a child in 1665, Henry Purcell lived though the London pandemic. Eighteen years he published his masterful set of trio sonatas. Join us for the first three in this set, and guitar music by Louis XIV’s favorite, Robert DeVisée for a taste of the height of late seventeenth century music. We then move to the eighteenth century high Baroque, with elegant harpsichord works by Forqueray, and a thrilling, virtuosic cello sonata by Jacob Klein.
